Fairy stones, are concretions found in Quebec on the shores of some lakes. They are formed of fine glacial sand and silt cemented together with calcium carbonate.
The indigenous inhabitants of North America, the Algonquin often wore them for good luck and offered them to their loved ones. Some were brought home to ensure protection against bad spirits.
